A school family for over 150 years

St Pancras has been welcoming Ipswich children since 1871, and that long history gives us a real sense of family. Today we are a small, friendly school where staff know every child and their family, with calm, happy classrooms and high expectations for everyone. Our Gospel values of love, respect, service and excellence shape each day, and families of all faiths and none are warmly welcome.

Why families choose St Pancras

Playtimes worth looking forward to

Through the OPAL outdoor play programme, our grounds are full of things to do, from a sandpit, water play and mud kitchen to trikes, scooters, a performance stage and a quiet games area.

Every child known by name

As a small school, our staff know every child well. Kind, experienced adults help when things feel tricky and cheer your child on when they shine.

Faith at the heart, open to all

Christ is at the centre of school life at St Pancras, and we warmly welcome families of all faiths and none. Children pray, celebrate Mass and lead mission work together, and every child is valued for who they are.

Books everywhere you look

Children read together, share stories across year groups and this term joined a Guinness World Record reading attempt. At St Pancras, reading is something we celebrate every day.

Questions parents often ask

Do we have to be Catholic?

Not at all. St Pancras is a warm, inclusive school community, and we welcome families of all faiths and none who share our ethos of respect and kindness.

Are there any fees?

No. St Pancras is a state-funded school, so there are no school fees.

How do I apply for a Reception place?

Apply through Suffolk County Council. For a September 2027 start, the closing date is 15 January 2027. Coming to an open day or a personal tour first is the best way to decide.
